USA, ME: Auburn’s Side By Each Brewing Co to close on December 31 unless a buyer is found
It wasn't so long ago in Maine when it seemed like the craft beer business had absolutely no limits. But in the last couple of years, the marketplace has proven that there are some as many people shift their love from craft beer to hard seltzers and ciders, WCYY reported on December 11.
In just the last 24 months, several established Maine breweries have shut their doors or sold their operations as the future looked challenging. Now, a popular craft brewery is Auburn is about to join those ranks.
Shared on Facebook by Side By Each Brewing Co, the brewery and restaurant shared a heartfelt message to the many customers who have joined them on their journey over the last 6 years.
“We’ve always said that while we take great beer, coffee, and food very seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we’ll be doing our best to keep smiling for these last few weeks....Once again, thanks so much for your support. Serving this community for the last six years has been a privilege.”
No specific reason was given for the closure with the social media message.
Side By Each Brewing grew in popularity thanks to its very laid back vibe alongside service and offerings that felt like someone took one of Portland's most popular breweries and plopped it down on one of busiest roads in the twin cities. It will be missed by many beer lovers.
Then again, there's a chance it won't be missed. Side By Each put out a call to action in the event that a buyer would like to purchase the business and keep it going. There may still be hope.
If no buyer emerges, the last day of operations for Side By Each will be December 31.
