USA, OH: Campfire Brewing opens in Westerville
Campfire Brewing opened over the weekend to a crowd of excited customers, Columbus Underground reported on January 14.
Located in Westerville at 6300 Frost Rd., Campfire Brewing opened Jan. 11. The brewery serves a variety of draft beers and cocktails in a family-friendly setting.
Campfire Brewing was opened by four Westerville neighbors who became friends as they united over their hobby of home brewing. After some discussions, they decided to create their own space to share their brews with even more neighbors.
The Campfire name derives from their use of fire as a smoke signal, letting the neighbors know when it was a good time to bring over friends. Inspired by the name, each picnic table inside has its own mini solo stove, and patrons can purchase s’mores kits to roast over their fire.
On opening day, Campfire offered 7 draft options, emphasizing an approachable menu with lots of variety:
• Wee Heavy- a caramelly Scottish ale with a light, sweet, malt flavor
• Smoked Ale- A smoked IPA to drink around the fire
• Chocolate Stout- a roasty chocolate stout that is fairly light-bodied and easily drinkable
• Winter Warmer- a lightly spiced ale Campfire insists is too good for just the holidays
• Double IPA- a warming and boozier IPA with an even malt and hop balance
• Cold IPA- A complex IPA with waves of bitter hops balanced by a hint of initial sweet malt
• Pale Ale- A lighter ale with an initial pop of pine-forward hops and a grassy flavor
For spring, expect to see lighter options such as a hefeweizen and a cream ale, as well as a bock style.
In addition to beers, the space offers a substantial cocktail menu and several non-alcoholic options. Patrons can order delivery from nearby Yabo’s Tacos, and food trucks will be present often, too.
Campfire Brewing is located at 6300 Frost Rd. in Westerville and is open Monday through Thursday from 4 – 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. Children are welcome until 7 p.m.
