USA, UT: Monster Beverage Corp. shutting down its Salt Lake City brewery
A major beer brand is shutting down its Salt Lake City brewery and laying off its employees, NJ.com reported on April 17.
Monster Beverage Corp., the makers of Monster Energy Drink, is closing down their Salt Lake City brewing facilities on May 23 and laying off 25 people, according to The Street.
Monster Brewing, which is the parent company of Squatters Craft Beer and Wasatch Brewery, stated that it would not renew its lease on the facilities and shift production of the beer brands to other breweries outside Utah.
Squatters and Wasatch will start brewing in their new facilities on May 27.
Although beer production will be shifted out of Utah, the beer itself will still be sold in the state.
The brewery closings will result in 25 layoffs, and all affected employees will be offered a severance package and will be encouraged to apply for other jobs within the company.
Monster acquired Squatters and Wasatch in January 2022, after a $330 million purchase of CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective.
