USA, AL: Oversoul Brewing announces plans to close at the end of September
After nearly seven years of service, Oversoul Brewing in Helena has announced its plans to close at the end of September, Shelby County Reporter said.
The decision to shut down was announced in a statement released on Oversoul’s Facebook page on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 2.
“After nearly seven years, we regret to announce that Oversoul will be ceasing operations at the end of September,” the statement read.
“Our time in Oldtown Helena has been marked by unforgettable experiences, exceptional music and outstanding beer. Nevertheless, it’s time to chase other passions and start new projects.”
Oversoul opened on May 10, 2019, when that year’s edition of the Buck Creek festival got underway. Brothers Jason and Scott Pruitt co-founded the establishment.
The Pruitt brothers started brewing around 2006. They started brewing beer in a garage, and after noticing an increasing number of nanobreweries opening, decided to open one of their own.
They were confident in choosing Helena as their location, as they wanted to bring something new to the area. When the opportunity arose to rent the historic building across from the Helena Caboose near the Helena Amphitheatre, they jumped on it.
They transformed the space and added a covered deck, stairs and courtyard seating to expand capacity and take advantage of the scenery.
Since it opened, Oversoul has played a role in many significant events in the city, including numerous Buck Creek Festivals, Old Town Live events and Christmas Tree Lightings.
During its final month of operation, Oversoul will be hosting a variety of artists and bands to provide its loyal customers with final opportunities to listen to music and spend time with each other while enjoying a drink.
“To commemorate our final month, we have curated an impressive lineup of musicians, culminating in a grand finale performance by Dead Wood, our beloved house band. We invite you to join us this month and indulge in a beer or five. We appreciate your loyalty, and thanks for playing.”
