Canada: CWB lowers malting barley outlooks
The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) reduced projected returns for durum wheat and malting barley sold by farmers in both the 2004-05 and 2005-06 marketing year, but increased forecast returns for some grades of milling wheat and feed barley, CWB posted on July 28.
The latest monthly Pool Return Outlook (PRO) for the 2005-06 crop year boosted the price forecast for Pool A feed barley C$11 per metric ton (MT), reflecting a sudden increase in international prices for this crop. Wheat PROs are unchanged from last month, while durum and barley PROs are both C$1 MT lower.
Wheat PROs for the 2004-05 marketing year are unchanged to up C$2 MT, reflecting recent global price improvements. The Pool B feed barley PRO has increased $4 MT from last month, while the PRO for malting barley is C$1 to C$2 lower.
