Ukraine: Ukraine is expected to be the second largest barley exporter
Ukraine is once again expected to be the world’s second largest beer exporter after Australia, accounting for a quarter of world trade, USDA posted in its Grain Report on December 9. Sales to Saudi Arabia (which typically accounts for half of Ukraine’s total barley shipments) continue to strengthen and displace EU supplies.
For 2005/2006 Ukraine is forecast by USDA to export 4 million metric tonnes of barley. Ukrainian barley production is forecast at 9 million metric tonnes, consumption at 5.3 million metric tonnes.
