Australia: SAFF will discuss the range of barley marketing options available to the industry
As decided in December 2005 by the South Australian Farmers' Federation (SAFF) Board and the SAFF Grains Council, a series of three information meetings will be held in key barley growing regions around the State next month to explain and discuss the range of barley marketing options available to the industry.
The meetings, to be held on February 20, 21 and 22, will be facilitated by Geoff Thomas, a former senior officer with the agriculture department and industry consultant. Detailed presentations of the marketing options will be provided by Ron Storey, an independent agribusiness consultant, specialising in the grains industry.
Mr Storey has held senior positions with AWB and was a key contributor to several grains industry reports including the "Single Vision" 2020 Plan and reviews of the Wheat Export Authority, Western Australian Grains Licensing Authority, Federal Government Review of Agricultural R&D.
Mr Storey is Managing Director of Australian Crop Forecasters and also a director of Pulse Australia and Australian Grain Technologies.
