Czech Republic: Brewers protest against EU proposal to hike excise taxes on beer
Czech breweries are against a plan by EU Commissioner Markos Kyprianou to require health warnings on beer; to raise excise taxes significantly (by 16% in the Czech Republic); to require stores and restaurants to have alcohol licenses and to limit hours of sale, Interfax reported September 04.
Czech breweries are counting on support from their German counterparts.
