Uganda: Uganda Breweries to participate in Sh400 million investment project to increase barley production
Uganda Breweries (UBL), Kapchorwa Commercial Farmers Association (KACOFA) and Uganda Grain Traders (UGTL) are to invest sh400 million to boost barley production in the district during the second farming season, AllAfrica learned from New Vision September 03..
The barley coordinator, Arap-kissa Muban, said the association would provide herbicides, fungicides, fertilisers and seeds to farmers.
"We shall provide the agricultural inputs to farmers on a credit, interest free-basis and recover the money after successful harvesting of the crop," Muban said. He said this during an interview at KACOFA's offices in Kapchorwa town.
Muban said under the partnership, KACOFA would collect, store, package and transport the harvested grain to UGTL and UBL's stores in Kampala. He added that the association would ensure proper record keeping.
