Beer production in the Czech Republic fell by 2.9% to 3.664 million hl in the first quarter of 2003, the Czech Brewing and Malting Association reported. The decline is attributed to cold weather in January, the association's executive director, Jaroslav Cepicka, said. According to the association, beer production fell by 5.6% in January and by 3.1% in February and March.
