Beer consumption in Spain decreased by 1.32% in 2002 to 30.7 million hl, the Spanish Brewing Federation posted. According to the same source, per capita beer consumption in Spain has fallen by 3% to 73.41 litres. Spanish brewers reported a turnover of EUR 2.24 billion in 2002, representing a 5.95% increase versus 2001. The Federation attributed the decline in beer consumption to unfavourable weather and of a 5.5% fall in tourism revenue, even though tourist numbers actually rose by 4.3% in 2002.
