AmBev is going to invest US$40m in a new brewery in Peru. This will permit AmBev to try to introduce its products into the Andean region. It will not be easy because of stiff competition from Union de Cervecerias Peruanas Backus & Johnston, or Backus, which is controlled by Colombia's Bavaria and has a virtual monopoly in the market.
