E-Malt.com News article: Australia: Australians rate Baltika’s beer very highly
Brewery news

The Australian International Beer Awards held in the city of Ballaret on March 13-29 brought Baltika seven new awards, according to company’s press release, May 6. Compared with last year, when five beer varieties won silver and bronze, this year’s jury gave high marks to a total of 7 of the Company’s beer varieties.

The Australian International Beer Awards have been held ever since 1994 and constitute one of the most prestigious competitions in the beer industry. Every year brewers from around the world participate in it. The organisers this year were the Royal Agriculture Society and the University of Ballaret. Thirty representatives of Australian beer brewers selected the best from among 938 beer varieties submitted by 39 countries.

The jury of this authoritative competition assigns points to each variety based on its look, aroma, taste, conformity with the declared style and technical quality. Varieties having an excellent aroma, taste and style are awarded gold. A silver medal is given to beer varieties showing the correct balance of taste, aroma and declared style. And high quality beer in which there is a combination of worthy taste and aroma is awarded a bronze medal. The jury reaches its final decision on making awards considering the correspondence between the samples presented to it and the strictest quality criteria. But not all categories get beer presented for evaluation that meets the highest evaluation and then the gold or silver medals are not awarded in that year. In 2008, Baltika was the only Russian brewery to win awards in this prestigious competition.

Baltika №4 Original, Nevskoye Ice and Baltika Cooler won silver medals in the category Lager Packaged. A bronze medal went to Baltika №7 Export beer.

In the category of Porter Packaged, a silver medal went to Baltika №6 Porter, which won this for the second time in a row.

Baltika №0 Non-alcoholic beer was the bronze debutante in the category of Low Alcohol Packaged. In the category of Wheat Beer Packaged, Baltika №8 Wheat beer was the recipient of the bronze.

The high awards it has received in various international competitions such as the European Beer Star (Germany), the World Beer Cup and the Brewing Industry International Awards (Great Britain) and the Australian International Beer Awards (Australia) all confirm the uniform high quality of Baltika Breweries products.

Baltika Breweries is the largest FMCG company in Russia. Ever since 1996, it has been the leader on the Russian beer market. The Baltika brand occupies second place in Europe in terms of sales volume. The Company’s portfolio includes around 30 beer brands, including such well known brands as Baltika, Tuborg, Carlsberg, Arsenalnoye, Yarpivo, Uralsky Master, Don, Nevskoye, as well as more than 10 non-beer brands. The Company comprises 11 breweries across all of Russia. It has around 12,000 employees.
