| E-Malt.com News article: New Zealand: Big brewers to increase beer prices
New Zealand’s largest brewers, DB Breweries and Lion Nathan, are to raise the price of beer sold in cans and glass bottles, blaming the cost of raw materials, Radio New Zealand reported on March, 12.
Lion Nathan will lift beer prices by 3.5% on 29 March and its main rival DB Breweries will increase its prices a week later by the same amount.
Both firms say glass and aluminium prices are especially high at the moment.
A beer prices look likely to rise later this year, when higher GST and excise charges are expected, it is reported.
