| E-Malt.com News article: Brazil: Increasing beer consumption makes top beverage-can maker boost production
Brazil’s beer consumption surges along with the country’s chances of triumphing at the 2010 soccer World Cup, Bloomberg communicated on April, 29.
“The greater Brazil’s chance of winning, the more beer people will drink,” Renato Estevao, a commercial director in South America for Rexam Plc, the world’s largest beverage-can maker, is quoted as saying.
The London-based company plans to invest 180 million reais ($103 million) to boost output in Brazil and Chile in 2010, 43 percent more than previously announced, Estavao said. The company’s output capacity in South America will rise 11 percent, he said.
Rexam will import aluminum cans this year to Brazil, the company’s second-largest market after the U.S., for the first time in a decade, Estevao said.
