Baltika Breweries has started exporting Baltika №7 Export, Baltika №6 Porter, and Baltika №9 Extra to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The first shipment consisted of 65,000 litres of beer.
Baltika will be available in the premium segment in restaurants and cafés, as well as in retail chains in the capital city, Kinshasa.
The average cost of a 0.5 litre bottle of beer will be US$1.50, the company reported on June 22.
Democratic Republic of Congo is a country in Central Africa. A former French colony, it became independent in 1960. Population - 69 mln, beer consumption - 6 liters per capita.
Baltika is currently the only Russian brewer whose products are exported to Africa. Baltika beer is positioned in the premium segment and is available in Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Togo, Burkina Faso, and Cameroon. In 2009, Baltika sales in Africa totalled approximately 2.2 mln litres. Baltika №9 Extra is the most popular in Africa; it makes up 60% of all shipments.
