Czech beer imports totalled 740 thousand hl in January – October this year, which is twice as much as in entire 2009, RIA-Novosti reported on December, 16.
According to Jan Vesely, chairman of the Czech Beer and Malt Association, about 50% of the total imports come from Poland.
The Czechs are now buying less local beer which is more expensive than the foreign brands.
The nation is expected to report this year the most significant decline in beer output since 1989.
