| E-Malt.com News article: Ukraine: All grain-export contracts to be registered with state-managed Agrarian Burse
According to a government resolution published on January, 18 in official newspaper Uryadovyi Kurier, the nation will require all grain-export contracts to be registered with the state-managed Agrarian Burse starting next month.
Exporters will need the registration for shipments to clear customs, it is reported.
The change will mean more complications and expenses for shippers, Nikolay Vernitsky, an analyst at Kiev-based researcher ProAgro, said. The requirement will generate some revenue as well as giving authorities access to information on transactions and prices, he said.
Ukraine was the world’s largest barley exporter in the year that ended in September, according to figures from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Ukraine’s barley harvest dropped 28 percent to 8.5 million tons in 2010, the State Statistics Office said on January, 18.
