Malt news

Cargill announced on June, 23 that Sabine Sagaert has joined Cargill Malt as the general manager of malt operations in Europe.

Sagaert succeeds Alain Dufait, who has taken a position with Cargill’s Starches and Sweeteners business in Europe.

Sagaert comes to Cargill with more than 10 years of experience in the brewing industry. She previously worked with Interbrew/Inbev in a number of roles, including general manager, marketing director, and business president for Belgium and Luxemburg. Most recently, she was the chief executive officer for the dental division of a well-known healthcare organization. She has a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Leuven, and additional degrees in marketing, economics and fiscal law.

“Sabine’s impressive background in the brewing industry will add great depth and new perspective to our leadership team,” said Doug Eden, president of Cargill Malt. “She will play a key role in driving innovation and influencing strategy that will help set the tone for growth in Cargill Malt.”

“I’m eager to contribute to a company with the proven success record that Cargill has earned in the marketplace, and I look forward to building on what has been accomplished and to helping shape the organization for future innovation and growth,” Sagaert said.

Cargill is the world’s third-largest maltster after Malteurop and Soufflet.
