E-Malt.com News article: US, OH: Miller Coors shifts production of two Molson brands from Canada to Ohio
Brewery news

The MillerCoors brewery in Butler County is getting more production as the company shifts brewing of two beers from Canada, according to Beer Business Daily.

Chicago-based MillerCoors LLC has decided to brew Molson Golden and Molson Ice in Trenton, Ohio, shifting production of those two labels from the Molson Coors brewery in Toronto, Ontario.

Molson’s flagship brand, Molson Canadian, will continue to be made in Canada.

MillerCoors’ brewery in Trenton already makes dozens of Miller, Coors and Pabst brands, producing 10 million barrels of beer annually. That’s almost 10 million cans and bottles a day.

Beer Business Daily cited a memo sent to MillerCoors distributors which stated that Molson Golden and Molson Ice have limited demand in Canada. So the shift allows the brands to locally manage with the MillerCoors system and to brew closer to consumers.

MillerCoors is a joint venture of SABMiller PLC and Molson Coors Brewing Co. that was formed in 2007 to combine the two companies’ U.S. operations. It makes Pabst Brewing Co. beers under contract.

Last September, Trenton’s plant manager, Denise Quinn, was placed on special assignment for 18 months to two years to head up a reorganization of MillerCoors’ brewery operations across the country. The largest brewery in the state of Ohio has been operating at near capacity, making more than 60 different beers.
