| E-Malt.com News article: India: Shivsu Group to setup micro breweries following beer growing in Indian market
With the demand for beer growing at 25-30 per cent every year in India, Shivsu Canada Pure Fillers, part of the business conglomerate Shivsu Group (a group which provides a complete solution for bottled water, mineral water, soft drink, sparkling water, carbonated water and juices project on a turnkey basis), is set to invest about Rs two crore (around $450,000) to setup micro breweries in the country, The Economic Times reported on July, 22.
Through the micro breweries the company expects to bring in many flavours of beers like apple, peach, kriek and chocolate. The alcohol level in the micro-brewery would range between three to eight per cent.
With the setting up of micro breweries, the company targets an additional turnover of Rs 150 crore (around $34,000,000) in the coming financial year, a company statement said.
"The Indian market for different types of beers available in Europe is still at a nascent stage. Due to a clear policy of licenses for micro breweries by State governments, the growth of European traditional beer is set to attract millions of consumers," Shivsu Canada Pure Fillers Technical Director Sushilkumar Eashwaran said.
Through the recent joint venture entered into Belgium-based Prodeb Brewery and Technology company, Shivsu Canada Pure Fillers would bring in brew masters (from Belgium) who could share the recipes for tasting beer. For this process, the company has launched a new equipment from Belgium.
"We believe that the finest beers in the world are manufactured in Belgium and we would like the Indian market to taste freshly brewed beer with recipe from brew masters from Belgium," Eashwaran said.
In the next three years the company plans to venture into African, European and American markets and also foray into large brewery projects.
