| E-Malt.com News article: USA, WI: Local Governor signs homebrewing bill into law
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has signed into law a bill pushed by people who brew beer in their homes, Wjfw.com reported on April, 2.
The bill Walker signed allows brewers to make and share their beer and wine outside the home. As with current law, they cannot sell any beverage they make.
State law before the change prohibited home brewers from transporting any beer or wine they make. The law's language had been ignored for decades, as homemade brewers say they didn't know about the transport ban.
Home brewers said the old law was archaic and hurts their hobby.
The new law would also exempt home brewers from permit requirements and taxes.
