Beer maker, Danish Brewery Group, is to brew Heineken in Denmark, going head-to-head with Carlsberg. The company announced yesterday that it will begin brewing the Dutch brewer’s beer this year.
The Danish brewer, the second-largest in Denmark behind Carlsberg, has agreed the move with Heineken as sales of the Dutch beer in Denmark are increasing, it said. The Brewery Group began tapping and distributing Heineken beer in cans, bottles and barrels for the Danish market a year ago.
Carlsberg leads the Danish market, with a share of around 70%.
