After completing a major brewery expansion this year, the Adirondack Brewery is aiming up distribution of its beer across the state, Poststar.com reported on July, 09.

“What’s going to end up happening is slow, steady growth, so we can maintain product quality,” said John Carr, owner of the Adirondack Pub & Brewery. “We don’t want to go too fast, too crazy.”

The brewery recently began partnering with a second distributor, High Peaks Distributing in Saranac Lake, which will give its products a presence in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties, expanding more deeply into the region the brewery is named for.

The brewery’s expansion comes at a time when New York brewers are beginning to see a lot of growth, which Carr attributes to consumers across the state recognizing that beer tastes fresher when it’s brewed closer to home, he said.

The brewery will continue to work with DeCrescente Distributing Co., Inc., in the 11 counties where its products have been distributed, from Warren County south to Columbia and Greene counties. High Peaks Distributing will cover counties to the north, and the brewery is now eyeing a partnership with a distributor farther west, which could give its products a presence in the Syracuse and Utica areas within a few months, spokeswoman Laura Stevens said.

The brewery hasn’t begun looking outside New York yet because there’s still a lot of territory within the state. There’s a lot of demand for his products in the New Jersey and New York City area, Carr said.

Carr expects to have a new bottling line running within the next couple weeks, and he wants to add a mash mixer this winter to allow the brewery to produce some cream ales, he said.

The brewery’s recent expansion gives it the capacity to produce 8,000 barrels per year. Production will gradually work up to that level over the next few years — the brewery will produce 4,000 to 4,500 barrels this year, more than doubling what it put out last year, Stevens said.

DeCrescente distributes three beers for the brewery that are brewed year-round and one seasonal brew. Working with the distributor has helped grow the brand by 300 percent in the past year and a half, according to Carr.

To begin with, Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties will be seeing two of the brewery’s most well-known and drinkable creations — Dirty Blonde Ale and Bear Naked Ale.

“They’re both very sessionable beers — that’s a British term that means you can sit and enjoy them,” Carr said. “We like to be known for those kinds of beers.”
