The Russian State Duma has adopted, in first reading, important amendments to the law of advertising, that will considerably influence henceforth the content of beer commercials in Russia.

Thus, beer ads that target teenagers and those suggesting to consumers that beer can influence positively their social status, their intellectual or physical state, are, according to these amendments, prohibited .

Forbidden from now on will be the participation in beer commercials of well-known personalities (actors, politicians , athletes , etc) , the usage of images of people or animals that increase the drinking appeal , and the use of slogans that imply that beer is an effective way to quench thirst or is not damaging to the health .

These amendments were supported by the vast majority of Duma’s deputies (304 votes).
