| E-Malt.com News article: USA, OH: Bucks Brewing to open in Licking County
Clark Myers is launching Bucks Brewing Co., a new nanobrewery in Newark, ohio.com reported on March, 1.
It’ll be the fourth brewery in Licking County, joining Buckeye Lake Brewery in Buckeye Lake, Granville Brewing in Granville and Homestead Beer in Heath.
Bucks will be small. Myers, who has been homebrewing for eight years, has a one-barrel system set up in a detached garage at his home, with the brewing stand coming from Psycho Brew in Michigan and the tanks coming from Stout Tanks and Kettles in Portland, Oregon.
The brewery will be so small, in fact, that there are no plans now for a tasting room. Instead, Bucks will focus on providing fresh draft beer to the local community. Myers said he wanted to be cautious when launching the venture and would expand to a larger system if there’s enough customer demand.
"I’m going in extreme baby steps," he said.
Beer drinkers can expect a white ale and then the general brewery fare of a pale ale, India pale ale, porter and stout, he said. "What I like to drink is what I want to brew and sell," he said. "I’m not into the crazy sours or the really fruity fruit beers."
Bucks has applied for its state brewing license, but it’s unclear when it will open. "As soon as [the authorities] say I’m legal and can roll, I will," Myers said.
