| E-Malt.com News article: Ukraine: Total grain exports up since the beginning of 2012/13 marketing year
Ukraine has supplied 18.2 million tonnes of grain crops to foreign markets since the beginning of the 2012/2013 marketing season, which was five million tonnes more than in the same period of the previous marketing period, the press service of the Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry reported on March, 8.
"As for grain exports, we're going through the 2012/2013 marketing season stably, and we expect that in general, exports will reach 23 million tonnes. Farmers have already supplied 18.2 million tonnes of grain crops to foreign markets, which is five million tonnes more than in the same period of the previous marketing year. In particular, as of March 5 farmers exported 9.7 million tonnes of corn, almost 6.2 million tonnes of wheat and two million tonnes of barley," Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said.
He said that Ukraine was continuing to maintain the stable growth of grain exports, which will help fully sell the expected amount of grain exports.
The minister also noted positive trends in the geographical expansion of exports.
"This marketing year, 7.7 million tonnes of domestic grain was exported to the European Union. Moreover, Ukraine is now a leader in corn supplies to England. This is very important to us," Prysiazhniuk said.
