German wheat exports, the European Union’s second-biggest after those of France, rose 4.7 percent in March from a year earlier. Barley shipments jumped fivefold, Bloomberg reported on May, 22.
Wheat deliveries advanced to 609,609 metric tons from 582,065 tons in March 2012, Germany’s statistics office reported on its website. The value of shipments climbed 30 percent to 164 million euros ($212 million).
Wheat exports in the first nine months of the marketing year begun in July were 5.31 million tons, against 4.1 million tons a year earlier, the figures showed.
Barley shipments jumped to 326,037 tons in March, the highest since April 2011, from 65,171 tons a year earlier. Nine-month exports of the grain rose to 1.53 million tons from 1 million tons.
Corn deliveries declined 6.9 percent to 69,179 tons from 74,273 tons in March last year, the data showed.
Imports of wheat into Germany rose to 308,597 tons in March from 294,491 tons a year earlier, while inbound corn shipments advanced to 189,154 tons from 165,445 tons.
