Mountain Toad Brewing will hold a grand opening in Golden the upcoming weekend, becoming the town's third craft brewery, westword.com reported on May, 22.

The brewery and taproom features a large outdoor biergarten, along with a line up of traditionally-styled beers named for some of Golden's landmarks.

"We are not your sixteen-tap brewery, but we try to focus on what we know and on doing that well," says Kaylee Acuff, who owns Mountain Toad with three others. "Our goal is to have four flagships on tap and four seasonals at all times."

Mountain Toad has four taps going right now: Apex Amber, White Ranch Wit, Mt. Zion IPA and Ryrish Stout. A fifth beer, called Summer Hop, will be ready in a couple of weeks.

Another brewery, Canonball Creek, opened in Golden in January, joining Golden City Brewery, which had been the town’s only alternative to Coors since 1993.

"We're taking some of the great things from Golden City, like the patio, and some of the nice things from Cannonball, which has a beautiful inside space, and merging them," says Acuff. "We are a little bit of both."

The City of Golden has also been helpful, Acuff says, adding signage for the brewery and paying for a mural of a toad on a bicycle that will painted on the business in June.
