John Garcia opened Lookout Brewing on May 1, occupying a little shop not far from the centre of Black Mountain, in Buncombe County, citizen-times.com reported on June, 6.

Garcia was a homebrewer, turning out ales for friends and family. They were well-received, he said, and that led to Lookout Brewing, which combines a half-barrel “nano” craft brewery with a shop selling homebrew supplies.

Lookout has nine brews on tap, from First Run golden ale to Dungadoon blond. Many brews are lower-alcohol sessions beers, but others have more alcohol.

As the local craft beer scene continues to grow, it is very likely to see more of this — small operations that serve their community and any thirsty drinker who makes the journey.
