Beer consumption increased by 4.9% in Cameroon last year, with more than 60.05 mln hl drunk by the population, Investir au Cameroun reported on July, 5.
The country’s beer market is controlled by three major players: Société anonyme des brasseries du Cameroun (Sabc), holding 82.2% of the market; Guinness Cameroun with a market share of 15%; and l’Union camerounaise de brasseries (Ucb), owned by a local businessman Kakji Defosso and claiming the rest of the market.
Sabc’s market share declined from 82.9% in 2011 to 82.2% last year, it is reported.
