E-Malt.com News article: USA, MN: Castle Danger Brewery in Two Harbors starts expansion

Owner Jamie MacFarlane says expansion was always the goal for Castle Danger Brewery, a small beer-making operation 12 miles north of Two Harbors, MN, Duluth News Tribune reported on November 12.

She and her husband, Clint, just never imagined that they would be breaking ground only two years after they began in the business.

“When we first got started brewing, we thought we’d be looking at expanding about five years from starting,” she said. “We didn’t think it would be coming this quickly.”

Construction on their new 10,000-square-foot brewery and tap room, however, began recently at 17 Seventh St. in downtown Two Harbors, MN. The new facility will give them 20 times the production capacity they have now.

The couple said they hope to be up and running in their new facility by early spring 2014.

The MacFarlanes hired a full-time employee in June, and they expect to add a few more at the new location. When the facility is running at full capacity — 8 to 10 years down the road by Jamie’s estimate, they expect to have about 15 full-time employees.
