| E-Malt.com News article: USA, IN: Mashcraft Brewing opening this week in Greenwood
Greenwood’s Mashcraft Brewing is scheduled to join the burgeoning ranks Indiana’s brewery scene at noon Friday, June 6, Indystar reports.
Owner/brewer Andrew Castner will serve up three house beers year round — a red, a blonde and an India Pale Ale — plus a variety of seasonals, starting with a 70-schilling Scottish-style ale.
Castner eventually plans wider distribution, but he’s starting small, offering pint sales and growler fills. Mashcraft will also offer food — a requirement to serve beer for consumption on site — with a limited menu that includes an Italian sandwich and a five-bean, beer-flavored chili.
Castner isn’t new to the Indy craft beer scene. He won several national and state awards for his brews while head brewer at the Ram from 2010 through 2013. He previously was an assistant brewer at Oaken Barrel in Greenwood.
He’s looking forward to creating his own brews at Mashcraft.
“Right now, people are begging for variety,” Castner said. “We will have three house beers and then the rest will vary. Our goal will be to have a new beer on each week.”
Mashcraft, 1140 N. Ind. 135, Greenwood, is open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
