| E-Malt.com News article: Canada, NB: A.W.O.L. Brewery aiming to open later this year in Riverview
The Atlantic Canada Beer Blog reports that a new brewery specializing in ales and meads is aiming to open later this year near Moncton.
Founded by Canadian Army Sergeant Robert Black, the fittingly named A.W.O.L. Brewery will be located in Riverview, New Brunswick, across the Petitcodiac River from Moncton. Black intends to offer three year-round beers – “a Belgian Pale Ale, an Amber brewed with rye-soaked oak chips, and a hoppy American Brown” – as well as Golden Boar Mead, with the latter to be made using local honey.
A crowdfunding campaign to raise capital for A.W.O.L. is running now on Indiegogo, with a target of C$18,000 to go towards a 2 barrel brewhouse, tanks and fermentors, kegs and bottles, and other start-up expenses. A variety of incentives are being offered to contributors, including merchandise, VIP event invitations, and the opportunity to contribute toward the naming and creation of various seasonal releases.
