| E-Malt.com News article: USA, KY: Against The Grain Brewery & Smokehouse planning new operation in Louisville
Against The Grain Brewery & Smokehouse appears to be planning a new operation in Louisville's Portland neighbourhood, Louisville Business First reported on July 18.
ATG Holdings LLC, a company affiliated with the brewery, has purchased land at 1800 Northwestern Parkway. The deal closed on July 17, according to Stephen Lannert, co-managing member at real estate firm Cassidy Turley Harry K. Moore. He represented the seller in the deal, Northwestern Land LLC.
Lannert said Against The Grain plans to open a brewery at the location but deferred to Against The Grain's owners for full details. Co-owner Sam Cruz declined to comment on the deal but said more details are likely coming soon.
The property includes a vacant 21,000-square-foot factory building on 1.28 acres, according to Lannert. He said the building previously had been used by FischerSIPS LLC, a manufacturer of insulated walls used in home construction. That business recently moved down a few doors on Northwestern Parkway, Lannert said.
The property sold for $433,000. Steve Lennon, with Horizon Commercial Realty, represented AGT Holdings.
Against the Grain is located at Louisville Slugger Field, where it produces about 1,800 barrels of beer per year. Last March, Cruz said in an interview a larger production facility was a part of the company's long-term plans.
The company has been partnering with Westminster, Md.-based Pub Dog brewery for contract beer production. Pub Dog company brews and bottles three of Against the Grain beers, producing about 1,000 barrels annually.
At the time, Cruz said Against The Grain beer was distributed at 38 states and more than 15 countries in Europe.
