South Fayetteville brew pub Tanglewood Branch Beer Co. announced that they will close their doors for good sometime this week, fayettevilleflyer.com reported on September, 29.

“It is with much sadness that we must announce the closing of our beloved pub,” stated the owners. “We have lost our lease and moving to a new location is out of the question, so we are forced to cease operations. We will continue to sell beer through the month of September then close for good sometime next week. I appreciate all of you who believed in the dream of bringing craft beer to South Fayetteville. I fear we were a bit ahead of our time. Thank you again for your support over these last three years. It was a heckuva ride.”

The pub opened in September 2011, and debuted its first brews in May 2012.

The pub made a similar announcement in December 2013, but 113 people donated over $21,000 via a Kickstarter campaign in a grass roots effort to save the neighborhood pub.

Those efforts, it appears, only helped to extend the life of the business for about nine months.
