The founders of Big Lake-based Lupulin Brewing, working with Boser Construction, were joined by state and local officials and honored guests to officially break ground Friday, Oct. 31, on Lupulin’s new craft brewery and tap room, Monticello Times reported on November, 8.

Lupulin Brewing is a 10-barrel craft brewery and taproom slated to open in the first quarter of 2015. Lupulin’s brewing philosophy is to create rich, full flavored beers with particular focus on hop forward and Belgian styles.

“What started as a dream almost 20 years ago started to become at least a possibility after purchasing my first homebrew kit in 2010,” said Jeff Zierdt, Lupulin Brewing co-founder and president.

Zierdt said Lupulin Brewing’s goal is to become a part of the regional business community within Big Lake, Elk River, Becker, Otsego and Monticello and to create a destination for people to visit.

Big Lake Mayor Raeanne Danielowski provided an official city welcome at the event. “We couldn’t be happier to have Lupulin Brewing call Big Lake their home,” Danielowski said.
