| E-Malt.com News article: Belgium: Belgium’s leading brewers to raise their prices
InBev Belgium and Alken-Maes brewery will increase their Pilsen beer prices as from February, 1, Belga reported on January 22.
InBev explains the 1.7 eurocents increase per glass of beer by the necessity of financing its long-term investments. The brewing giant’s investments in its Belgian facilities increased by more than EUR100 mln per year.
Alken-Maes did not disclose the exact increase figure, stating that “it varies by product”. A company spokesperson, however, admitted that the majority of its brands will become more expensive.
Haacht brewery, another large beer maker in Belgium, plans to raise its prices at the beginning of March, by around 3% depending on the product.
