| E-Malt.com News article: USA, MI: Detroit's first nano-brewery scheduled for this month
The launch of Detroit's first nano-brewery is about to take flight, WXYZ reported February 4.
"It's an adrenaline rush man, it's a buzz for sure," said Stephen Roginson, one of four partners in Batch Brewing Company. "We've put a lot of time and effort into this."
Nano means small. Small batches of beer. For Roginson and his partners that means eight kegs at a time.
"We really focus on producing a very clean, drinkable product," said Roginson. "We do session beers but we also do bigger beers as well. We've got a beer on tap that's 4.5% alcohol and we've got a beer on tap that's over 10% alcohol."
Pat Ahrens, another partner, is actively involved in the brewing process.
"People ask me what my favorite style of beer is and I always say beer that's made well and so that's what we do," Ahrens said.
Batch Brewing Company earned a $50,000 cash award for being named winner of the 2013 Hatch Detroit contest. It helped them build the business and settle on their location on Porter street off Trumbull near Michigan Avenue.
"We're down the street from Mudgie's, we're across the street from Brew Detroit and we're kiddie-corner from Le Petit Zinc in this really interesting culinary and beer world that exists in the neighborhood of Corktown," Roginson said.
Batch Brewing Company expects to open its doors to the public by the middle of next week.
