On July 1 the UK's largest brewer Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) declared an unexpected increase by 3.5% of its full-year pre-tax profits of GBP442.3m (US$677.1m).
The value of last year profits was GBP428m. The profits forecasts were made around GBP431-445m. However, its market shares slipped, since S&N said that they were continuing to look at releasing cash from its pub assets.
