Preyer Brewing Company located at 600 Battleground Avenue, opened on May 8 in downtown Greensboro, WFMY News 2 reported the same day.

According to the Triad Business Journal, the brewery gets its name from Lunsford Richardson, who founded Vicks Chemical in Greensboro and was the grandfather of former U.S. Rep. L. Richardson of Greensboro. The late congressman, whose name adorns the federal courthouse in downtown Greensboro, is the grandfather of the Preyer brothers who launched the brewery.
