La Derniere Heure reported that during 2001 beer makers in Belgium have increased their export volumes up to 5.85 mln hl, which is a rise of 0.45 mln hl if compared to the 2000 export volume.

The other statistical statement given by the report is that in spite of consumption rate decrease of 0.5 liters per capita (Belgians drank 98 l per capita in 2001) Belgium global beer production rose to 15 mln hl during 2001, in comparison with 14.7 mln hl of beer produced in 2000.
