Asheville's Hi-Wire Brewing will open its big new "Big Top" production brewery on July 25 with a colourful circus-like party, Asheville Citizen-Times reported on June 26.
The $3 million brewery at 2 Huntsman Place, Asheville, is on the edge of Biltmore Village behind the Appalachian Vintner beer store.
“The new 30-barrel brewhouse will greatly boost Hi-Wire Brewing's production from the current 5,000-6,000 barrels annually to as much as 55,000 barrels. A new bottling line will fill up to 150 bottles a minute,” spokeswoman Abby Dickinson said. “Employment is also increasing with the brewing, adding 16 new workers to Hi-Wire Brewing's staff,” Dickinson said.
“The current Hi-Wire Brewing’s space at 197 Hilliard Avenue, Asheville, will remain in business making one-off and experimental beers, while the new brewery will do the core brands,” Dickinson said. Hi-Wire Brewing is one of three production breweries under construction in Asheville.
