| E-Malt.com News article: Cameroon: Beer consumption registers 4.9% increase last year
More than 620 million litres of beer was consumed in Cameroon in 2014, recording an increase of 4.9% from 2013, Cameroon Concord reported on August 7.
Beer remains the most popular alcoholic beverage consumed in Cameroon. The dizzying proliferation of taverns and bars is sufficient to indicate that the brewing industry controlled by three companies is flourishing. The beer parlours cluster together despite government legislation which provides for a distance of about 500 meters between two outlets. Despite a recent order from the Ministry of Finance increasing the prices of alcoholic beverages, the consumption of beer still remains at its greatest high.
