Cincinnati's Rivertown Brewery & Barrel House is constructing a second location to accommodate its rapid growth, Cincinnati Business Courier reported on November 6.
The brewery at 607 Shepherd Drive in Lockland is building a new facility in Monroe that will house the bulk of its brewing equipment, its bottling line, a taproom and a full-service restaurant.
"We're quickly outgrowing the facility, and while we originally thought we'd stay here long term, we're growing too fast to do that," said Chris Goodin, Rivertown's director of exceptional exbeerience.
Rivertown will break ground on the new facility in early spring 2016. The plan is to have the 31,000-square-foot facility open and operational by 2017. The new space will have the potential capacity to brew 150,000 barrels a year, but Goodin said the brewery expects to produce 40,000 in the first year at the new facility. Rivertown expects to brew 15,000 barrels this year, up from about 10,000 last year.
The new building will have a full-service restaurant. The current location serves food from Cleo's BBQ, but Goodin said the new spot will have its own kitchen and menu that is currently under development.
Rivertown will continue to lease and operate its current Lockland location, which will operate as a taproom and brewery for smaller batches of beer. Those will include new experimental beers as well as discontinued classics like Hop Bomber and Rivertown's Dunkel, Goodin said.
