New Holland Brewing Co. is ready to put its name on a new development in Grand Rapids, WoodTV reported on November 11.
Crews officially broke ground on the new location on November 11. The development is at the corner of Bridge Street NW and Broadway Avenue on the city’s West Side.
Half of the two-building complex will contain retail space, office space, and 36 apartments. The other half will house New Holland’s new brewpub, micro-distillery and restaurant. The brewery was initially expected to open in late 2015 or early 2016, but the project has suffered some setbacks. New Holland’s president said he’s excited that construction is finally underway.
“It’s been a project that I’ve been working on for almost 10 years, so to get to this point is truly… I’m so excited about it can’t even really put It into words,” Brett VanderKamp, the president and CEO at New Holland Brewing, said.
New Holland has teamed up with Rockford Construction for the project –- one that could help revitalize the city’s West Side. They hope to open the restaurant in September 2016.
“I think it’s going to be very unique. The idea of this beer, brewery and distillery is unique in and of itself, and then when you attach the heritage, the European flavor that we’re going bring to the cooking side, I think it’s going to be unlike anywhere else,” VanderKamp said.
New Holland Brewing has been in business since 1997. Its restaurant in Holland has been at its location on 8th Street since 2002.
