E-Malt.com News article: USA, VA: Highmark Brewing preparing to join Virginia’s craft beer scene

Highmark Brewing, the most recent brewery to join the Virginia craft beer boom, plans to open in Stafford County this fall, Fredericksburg.com reported.

Led by brewer Mark Thorsted, the business plans to brew a wide range of beer styles with specialties in India pale ales, Belgian brews and stouts.

Highmark has seven local owners who are entrepreneurs and work for the department of defence.

Highmark Brewing is located in the 3,500-square-foot space at 390 Kings Hwy., Suite 107. Co-owner Chuck Rau said they are building out the space, which will feature a tasting room, brewery and outdoor seating.

“As a small, locally-owned brewery, we want to offer quality beer in a casual atmosphere,” he said.
