E-Malt.com News article: USA, WI: Gathering Place Brewing expects to open in Riverwest next spring
Brewery news

In Madison, the "brewmuda triangle" leads from Ale Asylum to Next Door Brewing then House of Brews with several other breweries in between.

Milwaukee is about to get its own brewmuda triangle in Riverwest, the Journal Sentinel reported on September 23.

Gathering Place Brewing expects to open at 811 E. Vienna Ave., next spring, somewhere between Sprecher Brewing, 701 W. Glendale Ave., in Glendale and Lakefront Brewery, 1872 Commerce St., said owner Joe Yeado.

It joins Black Husky Brewing, 909 E. Locust Ave., and Company Brewing, 735 E. Center St., already in the neighborhood.

Yeado is planning a 7-barrel system and a pilot brewery as part of the 4,100 square foot space. The equipment will be purchased in the next few days.

Yeado, a senior researcher at the Public Policy Forum, has been home-brewing and creating beer recipes for a decade now. He won several awards for his beer when he was living in Washington, D.C. When he moved back to Wisconsin last year, he racked up another 14 medals in competitions throughout the Midwest.

He plans to hire a head brewer but expects Gathering Place to focus on Belgian beer styles including Dubbels along with Milk Stouts, Pale Ales and German Hefeweizens. He'll also have seasonal brews and one-off beer styles available in the taproom with plans to brew 1,200 barrels the first year.

"We plan to start off small but sustainable," Yeado said.

He chose Gathering Place as the name to reflect the community involvement he hopes for. Plans include partnering with local non-profits each quarter and giving the charities a portion of the profits.
