| E-Malt.com News article: USA, IN: Field Brewing owners to break ground on their brewery in June
A Westfield couple plans to break ground on a new brewery near the city's downtown in June and to open in spring 2018, the Indianopolis Star reported on May 10.
The Westfield City Council on May 8 unanimously approved the plans for Field Brewing, clearing the way for development.
Gregory and Jackie Dikos own about three-quarters of an acre at the southeast corner of Ind. 32 (Main Street) and Cherry Street. They already have demolished several vacant buildings on the property.
Gregory Dikos said they've received a lot of interest in the project since filing plans in March.
They plan a sophisticated food menu for the gastropub, using local ingredients, with specialities prepared over a wood-burning fire. The gastropub will have indoor and outdoor seating, with a small parking lot and plenty of street parking.
While Gregory Dikos said he home brews, the couple plan to hire a head brewer.
Future plans include a distillery, though Indiana law requires brewers to hold beer permits for three years before they can apply for distilling licenses.
Westfield, a city of about 37,000 north of Carmel, has one brewery. Grand Junction has a brewpub a few blocks to the west and has opened a tap room near Grand Park.
