E-Malt.com News article: World: EU and world demand for feed barley surprises analysts

EU domestic feed barley markets have been marked by farmers’ retention, a surprisingly large demand, particularly in the central feed industry region of South Holland/South Oldenburg, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their December report.

Feed barley exports started badly, but have picked up recently following firmer price levels and a slowdown of exports from the Black Sea. French barley is the most competitive origin at present.

World demand is quite impressive. Algeria, Tunisia, Jordan and Saudi Arabia purchased 1.2 mln tonnes in November.
